The Past Players Association was formed on the 9th May, 1973 and the inaugural meeting was held in the Newborough RSL Hall. The meeting was attended by 34 people and out of the meeting an interim committee was formed as follows:

President: W Orme

Vice President: F Milkins

Secretary: G Cantwell

Committee: J Shaw, G Seath, B Milkins, J Wylie, R Croot, I Schmutter

The main objective of the Association at the time was:

  1. To foster and maintain the good fellowship and companionship of past players and officials

  2. To assist the NFC in general

  3. To promote sociability

  4. To keep alive the traditional spirit of the "Bulldogs"

Our motto is still very much in keeping with the original values but

we now support the Junior boys and girls in both the football/netball

club.

The 1st Anual General Meeting was held on the 29th August, 1973.

In 1974 Mr Joe Tabuteau was nominated for Honorary Life

Membership. In 1980 W.Orme & M.Henry were nominated for

Life Memberships. In 1989 D O'Brien was nominated for

Life Membership.

The Past Players has been having reunions since 1973, only

missing the last 2 years due to COVID.

In the early days, we had close ties to Phillip Island which are also the Bulldogs, we went to each other’s reunions and also shared golf days. Unfortunately this has stopped but we still enjoy close ties with Hill End Past Players and we attend each other's reunions.

The Past Players main revenue streams are from Golf days, the reunions and a Christmas Raffle. We spend this money mostly on the juniors in providing jumpers, balls, trophies, bus trips and pie nights etc. and we have previously supplied bags and polo shirts for the Fourths Team.

We have also helped out the Senior Club in providing funding for premiership flags and photos, chairs for the social rooms, jumpers for the senior and reserves, balls and bus trips for the Thirds and Fourths. We are currently helping our fledging Thirds side with assistance for shorts, socks and fees.

We are proud to be associated with the Newborough Football Netball Club and look forward to many years of working together.
